Bob Mould to Release “Life and Times”, Play the Varsity Theater

Home-grown 80′s punk rocker and grunge godfather Bob Mould is set to release his latest solo album on April 7, entitled “Life and Times”. You can find a track listing and other information at Bob’s website.
It’s hard not to wax nostalgic about another Bob Mould release. Ask anyone who has hung around the once smokey bars of Minneapolis awhile about a Bob Mould experience they once had and most people have a story. Even members of the younger generation who largely missed the 80′s (ahem!) have an experience, if only an indirect one. Mine is simple and not altogether interesting. I bought a copy of Husker Du’s “Candy Apple Grey” on a whim after hearing (from a guitar magazine no less) that the Huskers were one of the greatest rock bands in the history of Minneapolis. The experience? The first time I heard “All This I’ve Done For You”. Magical, and similarly a pain in the ass. As an impressionable 16 year-old, I was stuck writing Bob Mould sounding songs on my acoustic guitar for the next two months. (Damnit, well, could have been a lot worse.)

But here’s to Bob, and the anticipation of yet another great installment into the Bob Mould collection of music that matters to many Minnesotans. See him live at the Varsity Theater on March 30 at 8:00PM.
