Christopher R. Weingarten Lays It Out – Why Music Critics No Longer Matter

Author: SkellyJune 18th, 2009

At the 140 Character Conference (i.e. that which revolves around Twitter), Christopher  R. Weingarten (rollingstone.com, The Village Voice, Revolver Mag, Idolator, et al.) talked about losing his livelihood within a year and then laid out why.  Though loose and relatively informal, his 10 minute+ talk was brilliant.  If you’re at all interested in how the music press industry has reshaped and morphed over the last decade, you should watch/listen to this.  (Note: there’s some profanity here.  Consider yourself warned!)

I agreed with every single thing Weingarten had to say, save one.  A six pack of beer goes to whoever can guess exactly what that is.

This video was found via Daily Swarm via Idolator.
